Stef is a friendly guy and the work is proffesional. The original carb on my '59 bug was too far gone to save when it recently went in for a service. Stef adapted a newer carb to fit. I was worried about how it would look but Stef went the extra mile to make the installation neat and tidy and the car is running a treat!
Booking my car back in with M.A.C this very day for some more work!

stef at mac offers friendly no nonscence advive and knows his stuff, he definately has that 'something ' that you dont get at your standard garage........dunno perhaps its a VDub thing.........

Awesome VW garage! offers everything and more stef did a full resto on my bug and the result is amazing. and the workmanship is always second to none. THE best vw garage in the country.

STOP SEARCHING, this is the guy to use!!! Stefan is a friendly honest guy who seems to know aircooled dubs backwards. He supplied and fitted a gearbox for me, tuned my engine up and when I got the bus back it was like driving a new vehicle. Highly recommended. Give him a ring now.

What can I say!? Other than a fantastic garage,top notch workmanship and Stef's a friendly ,honest bloke who is happy to give advice and has helped me out of a few tricky situations in the past 8-9 months I've been taking my beetle there!From replacing my whole floorpan to Stef having to come and tow me the first time I took my car there as my clutch cable snapped!. You won't find a better aircooled specalist in Manchester,excellent value for money,would highly recommend!!!

You will not find a better garage for aircooled VWs. I've used them for a few years since I came to Manchester and I've never seen Stefan without a smile on his face and a spanner in his hand! The level of commitment and care that goes in to the work is something else. As an example, my bug died last week due to it needing an engine service, new generator brushes and the like. When it went in, Stefan found some welding needed for the MOT (which was running out this week). Even though he was full, extremely busy and a bit stressed, he managed to get the welding done for me, and the complete service, all for a sensible fee.
Basically, I can't give these guys enough praise. Stefan knows what he is doing and I've never ever had a problem with the work due to the high quality of finish and attention to detail. I've used a few garages before but not now, I'd travel a long way if I needed to, to use MAC.
Honesty, Integrity, Quality, Craftsmanship, Pride in the work, are you getting the message yet?

I have just had my camper van fixed by Manchester Air Cooled and I am "over the moon".
They were recommended to me by a friend but initially I did not take any notice.
When my camper van sprung an oil leak I was in despair. Most garages did not want to get involed, "not touching that mate" was the usual comment. In the end I phoned Manchester Air Cooled, but did not relish the thought of traveling from Stockport to Salford, but whithin seconds they had told me what the problem was and how much it would cost.
I took the van in and they fixed it in a morning, and that included taking the engine out. They also did some adjustments that were not included in the original price.
When I returned for the camper van they explained to me all about the work... and on the way home it ran great!
I felt that there prices were more than reasonable and that there expertise and patients were second to none.
Who said customer service is dead!!

Recently took my van a 1973 1700 westy for a service with Steff as it wasn't ticking over right and running really rich.

Van is running really sweet now and hopefully should lead to a trouble free summer.

Excellent service, fixed everything I asked him for and kept me upto speed with what was haappening throughout the day.

I'll definately use MAC again.

I chose to take my 1978 camper to M.A.C because of the reviews on this site. It is not particularily close to me, but the 60 miles drive are well worth it for a top quality service and friendly advice. I will definately be using M.A.C for any work on my vdub as they are leagues above my local VW specialist. Thanks to everyone at M.A.C my van runs perfectly.

Hi Brian here again!
There seem to be a lot of happy Bug owners on here but lets not forget that Stefan is also an expert with the old camper vans as well!
Just a quick story. My van went into MAC to have a new reconditioned Vege engine fitted. Whilst fitting the engine Stefan noticed that the thread in one of the spark plug holes was substandard! He complained to Vege and had the reconditioned engine exchanged for a brand new engine at no extra cost. The new engine is worth £1400 I only paid £900... thanks Stefan and thanks Vege!

We don't know much about VW campers (yet!) but we know some men that do....and that's Stef n his crew! And we wouldn't go anywhere else in the North West now that we've found these guys. You will not come accross more knowledgable, honest, trustworthy folk than these who'll tell you how it is. They'll look after your dub like it's their own. If you've struggled in vain, like we did, to find somewhere with that xtra-factor, to take your pride n joy then look no further....give them a call..we did, when we were in trouble, they went that xtra mile, J+D

I took my 69 Bay to Stef at MAC for a full service & a few other jobs, Stef phoned me up through out the day keeping me upto date with little extras that needed doing, his welding was spot on & everything in the camper was looked after as if it was his own. I even got a call from Stef later that night to make sure she ran ok on the way home.
Top job from Stef & I,ll be going for his services again,

What a fantastic garage!! I was greeted with a friendly welcome and made to feel more than happy to leave my pride and joy in their hands. A Knowledgable bloke more than happy to talk you through things to make sure you get what you want.
I just had an engine tune and service but was so impressed with the end result and your mans attitude, i have booked my van in for some much more significant expenditure! In my opinion a great garage to look after your vw!

Recently sent our westy to stefan to sort out we were pulling our hair out and getting very deppressed.Thanks Stef you are a genius Carolina our bus is now purring and he was very reasonably in price, he even rang us up to check things were ok after shed been on the rolling road, hows that for service. Well, as i said..... i sent my bay back for a little cosmetic work around the edges and what a result!!! i am so pleased with the work, it looks fantastic, and i felt like i knew exactly where we were up to all through-out the job, and Stef came in right on budget! I really cant speak highly enough of the job the guys did!
Bruce ( my van ) just last weekend was the wedding car for my brother, at his wedding and everybody just loved the vw - Thanks a bunch Stef for making my brothers, mine and everybody elses day!!! ( actually mine every time i drive the van!!!!!!! ) Ta Craig.

Top bloke, entrusted bus to him on several occasions, converting my 65 splitscreen to 12 volt from 6 volt, cutting out filled body work and replacing with metal, IRS rear conversion from reduction box rear end (The gear ratio's are now perfect, and i'm saving a third on fuel cost's), fitting CSP disc brake conversion, and adding a romote servo to the brake's as well (The bus now stop's like a modern vehicle).

I felt 100% happy leaving my split van with Stef he's a top bloke and gives fair and accurate quotes. He did a repair on my fuel tank for me which needed the engine out. He also sorted a starter problem for me while the engine was out and tuned it before he called me to collect. Its like a different van it has so much more power and starts first time every time I dropped it off at 9am and had the keys back in my hand for 4.30!
Stef gives better service than a vw main dealer and because he deals with aircooled everyday he knows them inside out. He's the man!

This is the best place I have taken my van to. Stef helped me out big time at short notice doing a gearbox swap so that I could go on holiday that very week. he also adjusted the carb and recommended more work, i booked it back in with him 2 weeks later for a service and the van ran perfect after that and is still in top condition (and not leeking oil all over the place!!)

Just wanted to let others with aircooled VW's know how impressed I have been with the service at Manchester Aircooled. Stef is really friendly and knowledgeable. He recently saved my '71 bug by fitting a new front axle amongst other things. The workmanship was really sound and prompt. Bert the beetle is now running like a dream.
